Aviva Investors ahead of net zero targets

Aviva Investors has revealed its ahead of progress when it comes to its 2040 net zero strategy.

Head of ESG at the company, Ed Dixon, has stated that “excellent progress” has been made since the target was announced in January 2021, with a key highlight being 78% of its assets becoming green.

By 2025, it has vowed to invest £2.5 billion in renewable infrastructure and buildings, increase its renewable generation to 1.5GW, provide £1 billion in climate-focussed loans and reduce real estate carbon intensity by 30%.

It now has green assets with a capacity of 1.1GW and has delivered £783 million in sustainable loans to date.

Aviva Investors has revealed that sustainability is moving to the top of real estate agendas, which it links to its spike in sustainable lending.

Ed Dixon said: “Our origination, asset management and performance analysis colleagues are critical to the success of our short-term targets and progress towards our long-term goal of achieving net zero. To that end, we will provide training for our people to give context and build capability. We expect to go further and faster with the weight of the business behind our goals.”
