China’s FEELM commits to net zero carbon emissions by 2050

Chinese vaping firm FEELM has announced its commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The flagship atomisation technology brand belonging to tobacco company SMOORE has released its Race to Zero plan and roadmap towards achieving carbon neutrality across both its direct production activities and indirect purchased energy.

It has set a target to ensure 30% of its total energy consumption comes from renewable sources by 2030.

FEELM intends to reach its goals by developing sustainable products, improving energy efficiency with automated production, supporting the supply chain in decarbonisation and increase the use of renewable and eco-friendly materials

It has also partnered with suppliers to develop and encourage using biodegradable materials while optimising the management of water, electricity and gas consumption.

In addition, the company is working with global customers to promote recycling and reusing.

FEELM has supported vaping brands in reducing their carbon footprint by removing unnecessary plastic packaging.

For example, it has removed single-use plastics from packaging of one of its major customers and replaced all plastic tray packaging with a pulp alternative.

By 2020, the company had helped the customer save more than 100 tons of disposable plastics, equivalent to four million plastic bottles.

Frank Han, Senior Vice President of SMOORE and President of FEELM said: “As a pioneer in going global in Chinese vaping industry, FEELM has been leveraging its full supply chain advantages and fundamental R&D in reducing carbon footprints.

“As China has pledged to be carbon neutral by 2060, FEELM is ready to fulfil its carbon neutral commitment to Chinese vaping industry, so as to explore a lower carbon, greener and more sustainable development path with cutting-edge technologies.”
