Chinese dairy giant Yili Group sets 2050 carbon-neutrality goals

Chinese dairy giant Yili Group has launched its roadmap towards achieving carbon neutrality across the industrial chain by 2050.

By 2030, the company is aiming for an operational model for green, low carbon and circular development, with plans to “substantially increase” energy efficiency and by 2040 it hopes to achieve “remarkable progress” towards overall green growth throughout its industrial chain.

Yili is targeting to become a green, low carbon and circular company with and energy system that is “clean, emission-free, safe and efficient” by 2050.

It has also launched the Yili Group Net Zero Carbon Alliance with 43 global partners, including Tetra Pak, FrieslandCampina, Chr. Hansen and Roquette.

Yili recently announced its dairy factory has become the first food facility of its kind in China to achieve the carbon-neutral status.
