Evol becomes ‘first frozen brand’ to offer certified carbon-neutral meals

Evol has announced it is the “first frozen brand” to offer certified carbon-neutral meals to customers.

It is introducing eight single-serve frozen meals, produced in a zero waste facility, this June, including the Five Cheese Alfredo Mac with Chicken, Truffle Parmesan Mac & Cheese and Butternut Squash & Sage Ravioli.

Its meals have been certified as carbon-neutral by Carbonfund.org Foundation, which means the carbon footprint of products have been measured over their full lifecycle and investments are made in projects that remove an equivalent amount of carbon in the atmosphere.

Evol commissioned a third-party lifecycle assessment to measure the carbon footprint of its eight frozen single-serve meals and is offsetting the carbon footprint by investing in wind energy and forest preservation projects verified by Carbonfund.org.

All of Evol’s paperboard cartons are fully recyclable and the tree fibre used for the cartons is responsibly sourced, certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

The company also switched from 100% plastic bowls to paper-based bowls, which helped lower the carbon footprint of packaging across all products.

Evol’s parent company, Conagra Brands, has committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 25% by 2030 and Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services by 20% per metric tonne of material sourced within the same timeframe.
