LG enters EV charging market

LG Electronics has acquired South Korean electric vehicle (EV) charging company AppleMango, alongside GS Energy and GS Neotek – as it looks to take strides in the EV market.

The company has launched an EV charging solution branch of its business and is hopeful that working with the specialist GS companies and using AppleMango’s developed super-fast charger can help it to grow.

LG has also announced it is looking to build an energy storage system, with energy management solutions to accompany its battery technology.

Paik Ki-mun, Senior Vice President, said: “Leveraging our know-how and experience in the B2B sector, we will offer customised, integrated vehicle charging solutions for diverse customers, enhancing the competitiveness of our existing business and ensuring our readiness for future opportunities.”
