Santander provides £27m for new battery storage projects

Santander has provided £27 million in funding to 4 Renewable Energy to build four new battery storage facilities across the UK.

The energy producer acquired the 107MW sites last year, which are located in Chesterfield, Rochdale, Plymouth and Bexhill-on-Sea.

These projects add to 4 Energy’s wind, solar and battery storage projects in Spain, Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania and Poland – taking its entire renewable portfolio to 1.5GW.

Sébastien Rondel, Director of 4 Renewable Energy, said: “Our choice of the UK is significant as the nation has made an ambitious decision to accelerate its transition to renewable energy sources and battery systems are poised to become a key component of this strategy’s success.”
