T-Mobile makes net zero by 2040 pledge

T-Mobile has committed to achieving net zero by 2040.

The telecommunications firm has had its targets to reduce its emissions verified by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), setting all from a 2020 baseline.

By 2030, the company has pledged to reduce its emissions in all scopes by 55%.

For Scope 3 emissions, it will include the transportation of its products and their usage by its customers.

It has also committed to reducing its energy consumption per petabyte of data traffic on its network by 95% by the end of this decade.

Mike Sievert, Chief Executive, said: “We hope companies like ours – and the partners and suppliers we work alongside – will join us in setting their own aggressive longer-term goals like these.”
