UK signs £4bn trade deal with Morocco

UK Export Finance (UKEF) has committed £4 billion to strengthen trade ties with Morocco.

Projects in the region will be propped up with the funding if at least 20% of the content is sourced from UK businesses.

A new International Export Finance Executive has also been appointed in Casablanca to drive growth of UK businesses in the North African nation.

Projects for investment include renewable energy, water desalination, transport and infrastructure.

The British Ambassador to Morocco, Simon Martin, said: “With the support of UKEF we could see a new wave of investment in Moroccan infrastructure, renewables and other sectors.

“I am excited to see how this develops and looking forward to seeing our partnership with Morocco continue to grow.”
